Palm Springs

Last June I went to Palm Springs with my parents and brother.  We went for my mom's birthday, whose age I will not disclose.  We only went for the weekend and before arriving in Palm Springs we stopped in Joshua Tree to admire the scenery.  After Joshua Tree we went to The Ace Hotel and I love this place.  This was my third time staying and it's great every time.  We lounged by the pool, drinking tall cans of Red Stripe and munching on snacks.  Late afternoon we took a short nap and went to a nice dinner.  A trip to the Ace should really happen yearly, at least.

My parents and brother up ahead.
I didn't have proper shoes so I couldn't climb up.

 The pool was crazy packed.

Saturday's Theme: Accessorize

I am the happiest girl right now.  About a week ago I noticed my friend opened a collection of chic accessories.  So immediately I signed up for one. To see her things go to: Lani Beck Collection on Facebook.  I got the small nude lambskin tassel today and I'm loving it.

I also got earrings and a necklace today.  It's yard sale day in Santa Ana and my neighbor makes vintage inspired jewelry and I have been stalking one of her pieces geode druzy necklaces.  I finally got it– along with some gold plated onyx earrings. Check out her beautiful pieces at Elisa T Jewelry.

So you could see why I am so, so happy!  And I'm supposed to be going to the Santa Ana Art walk tonight with Cityloveee (Christina Richards).  Good day....

Eyebrows

I remember the first time I got my eye brows waxed.  They were beautiful.  Now, many years later, they've become something totally different.  I have been victim to over-plucking and I want my thick ones back!  For the past 2 months I've been letting my brows grow, which, if you've ever done before is difficult because of the bushy mess you have on your face.  I'm going to Palm Springs in a few weeks so I think that will be a good time to wax them.

I've never had them threaded, any thoughts on that? I hear it's painful and I'm a chicken.

I really like this article, published in 2009 (when eyebrows were apparently a hot topic).

When you think of thick brows on celebrities, who other than always gorgeous, Jennifer Connelly.
"thick set brows show they are a woman in control"

Mia's Surgery

Last week my 6 year old dog was not feeling well, turned out after x-rays that she had stones in her bladder.   Fourteen of them to be exact!  The vet said surgery would be between $1,500-$2,000 but it didn't matter.  She's healing well now and going back this week for a check up.   She needs to stay on a special diet forever now because there's a good chance they can redevelop.   So take your pups in for a check up!

Hello World

I'm making a permanent transition from tumblr to blogger... but I'd like to introduce myself first.  My name is Karissa, I am a student with hopes of becoming a teacher and inspiring children just like my teachers inspired me.  I live in Orange County, California (specifically– Santa Ana) born and raised.   My favorite color is green and all of its derivatives: chartreuse, olive,  forest green, jade, pear, and the list goes on.
One of my favorite quotes is:
So I plan on doing just this, but some of it publicly.  Displaying to the world (or the few that will ever read this) my findings, creations, outings, random thoughts and obsessions.
